Body Battery

I’ve got this new Garmin activity tracker and it comes with a thing called a ‘Body Battery’ which I’m very excited about. It tells me how exercise, stress, rest and sleep impact my physical energy reserves.

Apparently I’ve got 80/100 body battery left for today. Great! But what about my mental energy? It’s critical to manage the brain’s battery, and notice when it’s starting to run on empty.

Mental and physical fatigue are different sensations but they have one thing in common – they both require recharging.

It’s really important to be mindful of our energy levels. We are our own charging points. It’s up to us not to let our batteries drain to the point where we run out of steam.

When I feel myself starting to power down I’ll walk the dog, knock out a riff on the guitar, or simply watch the world go by. As I step away, I can feel the weight lifting.

So when it gets harder to concentrate, or your muscles start to ache, give your batteries a boost.

Because we can’t give 100% if our batteries are at 0%. 🔋💫
