A long time ago, when dinosaurs ruled the earth, I lived in London with my parents, brother and sister Alexander and Victoria, cats Gladys and Bluebottle and tortoise Norman. Then in 1976 we moved to Newbury, Berkshire, a small market town in the south of the UK. I have lived here ever since.
However.
I do not consider myself a ‘Newbury Girl’ having not been born in Newbury. I would also like it to be known that I have made a number of attempts to live elsewhere (Sydney, London, Oxford, Winchester), but alas all failed.
And so you find me, still living in (but not from) Newbury with my husband Eddie, sons William and James, cat Daisy, dog Dolly, and a few thousand bees I haven’t named for obvious reasons.
I have two previous blogs to my name: William’s first year which was conceived pretty much at the same time as William. And Chickens in a Box, a continuation of the Houghton saga on and off from 2007 – 2024.
